Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by the awesome people of The Broke and the Bookish
Who doesn’t love a good villain in a story. And come on, without them reading life could be so boring! These villains that I picked are so well thought out, so brutal and awesome. I like a well written villain and is tangible and someone that makes me curious, creeped out, and blown away. So let me tell you some of my favorite villains.
The Commandant in this story is the one person you never want to cross, she will torture, maim, rip you apart just for being late. And she takes pleasure in it. YIKES! She’s awful, I mean spawn of Satan awful. There is another villain and that’s the new King but he seems to me like a whiny baby child who throws a tantrum whenever he doesn’t get his way. By the end of book two. I was like…Dude, Sabaa Tahir is BRUTAL and that’s why she is so brilliant. I love it!
LeBlanc- our villain in this story, was INSANE, literally INSANE, his logic, way of thinking the world should be and the sickness in his own mind was fascinating! I was creeped out and disgusted by him which made him completely fun to read about. There was brilliancy and chaos in his insanity that was fascinating to read. Creepy creepy man…. oh maybe I’m just weird.
With this trilogy there are a few villains. I was utter brilliance how this author went about with her villains. You were never really sure who was really pulling the strings in this story. The twists and turns of the villains were mind boggling and so fun to read, it was awesomeness. There was danger all around and you just never knew who else was a villain.
Now granted I know King’s Cage isn’t out yet and I haven’t read it, but I love the cover so much I had to add it! haha I was SHOCKED to find out who our main villain was going to be with this series. wow…my heart was broken and happy at the same time. Weird, I know, BUT this villain is just evil and takes pleasure in doing whatever evil he can to get what he wants. He has no thought of anything else but what he wants and it’s awful and neat to read even though I inwardly cringe as some of his methods. *shudder*
The Emperor was fun to read about. I expected more…..evil from him. From the way Anton; his brother, made him out to be I kept waiting for heinous things to happen. However I pictured him, a pretty boy who acted like a spoiled child. He was still very interesting to contemplate and figure out. I expected him to be more ruthless; which he was but at the same time…not. However I still sat on the edge of my seat because I kept waiting for that ball to drop or something to happen even though it didn’t. Granted there is a book two coming so I’m hoping to see more evil in that one.
Anyone who follows me, KNOWS how much I talk about this trilogy and how much I love this trilogy. The amazing-ness about this villain is that it really is himself. What he created and allowed to happen, the constant battle and then hopelessness. The ending of book two crushed my soul and the darkness of this trilogy had me begging for more from this author. So dark…
What I love about this trilogy AKA villain is you found yourself and a million other people with you, rooting for the villain. Hoping and praying he wasn’t “that bad” you know? I also didn’t find so many people who hated who a character ended up with. Whatever. The villain you just kept watching out for, wanting more from and hoping against hope that he just was a “misunderstood” soul and who just needed someone who understood him. *sigh* nope.
I’m sorry, but not sorry. Voldemort is like the ultimate of villains. A villain who shredded his soul in order to stay alive. As this series progresses it gets darker, and darker.
There really isn’t much I need to say about this villain. So well written, so well thought out, his past, how he became, I just bow to J.K. Rowling.
The amazing thing about this villain, is that it’s an object! To me it wasn’t Sauron or the dozen other key players in this series, it was the Ring! An object forged with so much evil poured into it, to rule the others rings and bring them all into submission. This ring was alive and destroyed countless lives or get to it “master” oh man this is a brilliant villain of sorts.
Queen Levana- The perfect villain Queen to rule over these fairytale retellings. A villain Queen so obsessed with herself that she would destroy to maintain her reign and expand her ugliness. She is what you imagine all Disney female villains to be like. Perfect rendition.
