Something different. Now, when I say new mothers I mean mothers who are going to be having kids soon and want to stock up on some cute books to read while they are pregnant OR to their babies/kids. These are some of my absolute favorite children’s books to read to my kids.
When it comes to Dr. Seuss you can do no wrong really. But there are a few select that I prefer over others. The way the words fall off your tongue create a musical storytime for you and your kids. Although Fox in Socks is all about hilarity.
Calvin & Hobbes by Bill Watterson No child should leave childhood without ever reading some good ol’ Calvin and Hobbes. OH these are just so fun to read with any of your kids and you find yourself laughing and at times it leaves great teaching opportunities with some of your older kids too!
You Are Special by Max Lucado I love this story. This story brings such warmth to me. I absolutely love this simple sweet story. It’s a GREAT book to remind your kids and teach them about who they are and that they matter and that nobody can change that. I just love this book.
Hand Hand Finger Thumb by Al Perkins I LOVE this story it’s like Dr. Seuss, this story just holds special value and memories for me because this book is the only one I remember my father ever reading to me. I can still hear how he would read this book to me and it’s a fun wonderful book.
The Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg I remember this book as a kid and the hype the book had. I remember in elementary school we were asked to draw something about this book that we liked. I drew the bell. And it got recognized and placed on the wall for everyone to see. It’s just a beautiful story. I HATE the movie but whatever. It’s still a classic story.
Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein There is another book by the same guy that’s just as good. This is a great way to introduce to your child fun poems. Silly and ridiculous poems and stories. They are beyond fun and it will open their minds to language and how poems can actually be fun!
The Empty Pot by Demi This is another very sweet and valuable story. It teaches some amazing lessons and introduces some uniqueness with this Chinese story about truth. It’s just the best.
Mother Bruce by Ryan T. Higgins I fell in love with this story about a year ago. It’s just suuuuper cute and adorable. There is a second book but it wasn’t nearly as awesome and cute as this first one. LOOOVE, seriously a must own.
Seriously these are just the best I could think of to stock up on some amazing books to read to your child. These are great for all ages. Let me know which books you’d recommend to me if I were a first-time mom!
