Cover Thoughts: I like it, it’s something that would definitely catch my eye in the store.
Lucas Thatcher has always been my enemy.
It’s been a decade since I’ve seen him, but our years on opposite coasts were less of a lasting peace and more of a temporary cease-fire. Now that we’re both back in our small town, I know Lucas expects the same old war, but I’ve changed since high school—and from the looks of it, so has he.
The arrogant boy who was my teenage rival is now a chiseled doctor armed with intimidating good looks. He is Lucas Thatcher 2.0, the new and improved version I’ll be competing with in the workplace instead of the schoolyard.
I’m not worried; I’m a doctor now too, board-certified and sexy in a white coat. It almost feels like winning will be too easy—until Lucas unveils a tactic neither of us has ever used before: sexual warfare.
The day he pushes me up against the wall and presses his lips to mine, I can’t help but wonder if he’s filling me with passion or poison. Every fleeting touch is perfect torture. With every stolen kiss, my walls crumble a little more. After all this time, Lucas knows exactly how to strip me of my defenses, but I’m in no hurry to surrender.
Knowing thy enemy has never felt so good.My Thoughts:
Looks like I’m gonna have the unpopular opinion about this book. Seriously you should know by now that I am all about hate-to-love stories but this? was dumb.
There you have it. Immediately I knew off the bat I wasn’t going to like this story. The main character drove me nuts!
Dasiy has hated Lucas for as long as she can remember, hers and his parents were already planning their wedding when they were kids. They challenged each other and competed for the first spot, always.
Yet you’d think that after YEARS of being separated and going off to school and becoming a doctor would help someone grow up and mature. Nope, from the moment I read about her hatred, I was annoyed and felt like she acted like a 12 yr old brat having a fit over something so stupid.
Lucas, on the other hand, took it and gave back to her challenges for what the author tried to make it seem was a healthy dose of hatred too? yeah didn’t work out, I had it all figured out from the beginning. Something was off, something wasn’t right and I was proven right which only disappointed me even more about the story.
I really liked Lucas, he seemed like a typical fun guy who wasn’t really competing like Daisy in her ridiculous mind always was. He was fun, good humored and a lot more mature than Daisy was.
Then there was the hate sex. So stupid, I hated it. I hate, hate sex. To me it proves nothing. Yes, they are attracted physically but dude, seriously?
I didn’t like the writing and felt this book was just about the sex which is something I’m not into. I had hopes for this, it had a great premise but the execution sucked for me.
Overall I didn’t like it, I finished it and I liked Lucas but that was about it. Daisy as a character destroyed the book for me and the writing wasn’t that great.
