Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by the awesome people of The Broke and the Bookish
This is a GREAT top 10 because it’s a chance for me to mention books that you may not have heard of yet because I haven’t had a chance to talk about them in FOREVER! these are GREAT books that you should totally check out!
Anything really by Kasie West is so worth mentioning. She is a great author. There isn’t a book that I’ve read that I haven’t liked. They are simple, cheesy, cute-contemporary books. I know she’s written a few other ones but I haven’t had a chance to read them yet.
Stitching Snow by: R.C. Lewis
I’m pretty sure people gave this book a lower rating because it has a similar feel to Marissa Meyer’s Cinder.. But I totally feel like it stands on its own. Its an exciting science fiction -space adventure with a Snow White twist! And that pretty much sums up the book. I enjoyed it immensely! Who doesn’t enjoy a fairytale retelling!
A Creature of Moonlight by: Rebecca Hahn
This is just a hauntingly beautiful, powerful and raw story thats just stays with you even after you turn the last page. I can’t stress enough how much I loved this book, it’s writing is beautiful and I found myself unable to put it down. You’ll love this gorgeous and yet eerie tale.
Better Off Friends by Elizabeth Eulberg
This is a super cute story that takes an honest look at the ins and outs of friendship with the opposite sex. With super cute characters that you feel like you’re friends with them. You’ll find yourself smiling and just having a super great time with this book. It’s just so dang cute! I loved every minute I spent in this book.
The Book of Ivy by Amy Engel
This is just one of those awesome books that you won’t be able to put down. YOU NEED TO READ IT! I loved everything about this book, the pacing was perfect, the characters were amazing, the love story was one of the best I’ve seen, not rushed, it was just perfect! Bishop is now one of my new book boyfriends for sure! You’ll be dying for book two when you’re done!
Wings of Dawn by Sigmund Brouwer
This book….guys… it’s…*sigh* I don’t have a review for it because it read it when I was REALLY young…like 15 years ago when it’s original title was Magnus. HOWEVER, it’s so good that it has remained on my favorites list since and I’ve read it over and over. It’s full of adventure with amazing characters that keep you guessing on who side is who on and who you can trust. I loved the romance this book is clean and fun and worth the read of people of all ages.
Sun and Moon, Ice and Snow by: Jessica Day George
This is a retelling that takes the essential parts of the original tale and just fills it out with some depth and padding that creates a more fulfilling tale to it’s original. I loved it. It’s a Norsk setting with unexplained fantastical elements and pacing that’s perfect to keep you reading. It’s a beautiful tale that I just fell in love with. I read it like 7 years ago before I started blogging so there isn’t a review which means I may just have to re-read it! 😀
Flipped by: Wendelin Van Draanen
Such a GOOD BOOK! Its so uplifting, its really funny and just sweet! I laughed, I cried. I HIGHLY recommend it! Fans of Stargirl will enjoy this book just as much. There is a movie thats alright but the book was better. I would love a sequel and know how it continues.
Fire by Night by Josephine Angelini.
I can’t help but LOVE the UK cover for this book (right) I never order books if I already own it, BUT I made a special case for this one because I love it so much. *sigh* Trial by Fire is an original story filled with science, magic, mystery, monsters, betrayal, brutality, and a romance that’s filled with fierce tension. I loved this book from the first page to it’s last, and I couldn’t wait for book two after I was done. I love Angelini’s work I’ve enjoyed everything she has released. She’s just that good.
The Only Alien on the Planet by Kristen D. Randell
I again, don’t have a review for this book because I read it forever ago. I’ve read it a few times since but not since I’ve started blogging. However this book is pure and simple just amazing. It’s uplifting. It hold everything that you would enjoy in a book. It talks about abuse but not in a way that was so depressing you wanted to give up your faith in humanity. But it given in such a way that is wonderful. I loved it. It’s a great book if you’re looking for something to read on your own or in a bookclub for a great discussion.
So are there any books that you just love and haven’t gushed about recently? Let me know! I love seeing what others loved!
