She’s more gunpowder than girl—and the fate of the desert lies in her hands.
Mortals rule the desert nation of Miraji, but mystical beasts still roam the wild and barren wastes, and rumor has it that somewhere, djinni still practice their magic. But there’s nothing mystical or magical about Dustwalk, the dead-end town that Amani can’t wait to escape from.
Destined to wind up “wed or dead,” Amani’s counting on her sharpshooting skills to get her out of Dustwalk. When she meets Jin, a mysterious and devastatingly handsome foreigner, in a shooting contest, she figures he’s the perfect escape route. But in all her years spent dreaming of leaving home, she never imagined she’d gallop away on a mythical horse, fleeing the murderous Sultan’s army, with a fugitive who’s wanted for treason. And she’d never have predicted she’d fall in love with him…or that he’d help her unlock the powerful truth of who she really is.
Oh sweet baby tadpoles-why did I wait so long to read this??? I seriously held off reading this regardless of how much I anticipated it because of the hype that went around which usually does not bother me. Well this time I wanted to love it so much and actually held off. I don’t ever do that! WHY?! ok seriously though… it’s that good.
I don’t know where to begin at how wonderful this book is. The world building was fantastic the idea of the setting and the story was phenomenal. The action, the romance, the characters were all so well put together it just flowed off the pages.
Amani-great character I loved that she was VERY human and made horrible, horrible, HORRIBLE mistakes. I was angry with her, yet couldn’t help like her at the same time. I loved how her eyes set her apart. It was an interesting relationship that I had with her. She was fun and interesting, I never knew what she was going to decide I enjoyed seeing her character develop which was done so well.
I love LOVE LOOOOVE Jin. He was perfect in every possible way. Seriously one of the best male characters I’ve read in a long time.
Overall the mythical creatures, action, romance, mystery, political intrigue, family, friends, everything was brilliant. This book as now been added to my favorites list.
