Atlanta would be a nice place to live, if it weren’t for magic…
One moment magic dominates, and cars stall and guns fail. The next, technology takes over and the defensive spells no longer protect your house from monsters. Here skyscrapers topple under onslaught of magic; werebears and werehyenas prowl through the ruined streets; and the Masters of the Dead, necromancers driven by their thirst of knowledge and wealth, pilot blood-crazed vampires with their minds.
In this world lives Kate Daniels. Kate likes her sword a little too much and has a hard time controlling her mouth. The magic in her blood makes her a target, and she spent most of her life hiding in plain sight.
But when Kate’s guardian is murdered, she must choose to do nothing and remain safe or to pursue his preternatural killer. Hiding is easy, but the right choice is rarely easy…
This is an overall review on the four books I’ve read. Why only the first four and not read all 9 or wait till the 10th books comes out and read them all? Well, as much as i probably could continue I think I’m happy to stop right here..not necessarily forever just for now.
Overall the stories are amazingly well written, the urban fantasy is so well built with the world building, back stories/histories of society and the fantastical aspects of the books. The main protagonist Kate is hilarious and I love her very strong/sarcastic character. I LOVE those type of characters which is one reason why I want to keep reading. She is just fantastic and I love her.
I really enjoyed the slow building romance in these first four books. I’m not gonna lie there is a ton of innuendos but I appreciate more a slow moving romance something that keeps me coming back for more. The tension and relationship between Curran and Kate is hilarious and great.
These books are action packed and full of amazing adventures. I will warn anyone who is concerned about content that these books are full of everything. This is adult urban fantasy and so beware of content.
