HAPPY FRIDAY!!!! Tell me what you’re reading currently! I’m currently reading…
A Torch Against the Night (An Ember in the Ashes #2) by Sabaa Tahir
Publication Date: August 30, 2016
*I got this ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) in exchange for an honest review*
A Torch Against the Night takes readers into the heart of the Empire as Laia and Elias fight their way north to liberate Laia’s brother from the horrors of Kauf Prison. Hunted by Empire soldiers, manipulated by the Commandant, and haunted by their pasts, Laia and Elias must outfox their enemies and confront the treacherousness of their own hearts.
In the city of Serra, Helene Aquilla finds herself bound to the will of the Empire’s twisted new leader, Marcus. When her loyalty is questioned, Helene finds herself taking on a mission to prove herself—a mission that might destroy her, instead.
So far it’s picked up exactly where the first book left off and I’m enjoying it! Lots of action and what-not within the first 100 pages…cause that’s as far as I’ve gotten! 😀
Darkfever (Fever #1) by Karen Marie Moning
Publication Date: August 26, 2008
When MacKayla’s sister was murdered, she left a single clue to her death, a cryptic message on Mac’s cel phone. Journeying to Ireland in search of answers, Mac is soon faced with an even greater challenge: staying alive long enough to master a power she had no idea she possessed – a gift that allows her to see beyond the world of man, into the dangerous realm of the Fae.
As Mac delves deeper into the mystery of her sister’s death, her every move is shadowed by the dark, mysteriou Jericho…while at the same time, the ruthless V’lane – an alpha Fae who makes sex an addiction for human women – closes in on her. As the boundary between worlds begins to crumble, Mac’s true mission becomes clear: to find the elusive Sinsar Dubh before someone else claims the all-powerful Dark Book – because whoever gets to it first holds nothing less than complete control both worlds in their hands.
I’ve heard a lot of good things about it, I needed something to read on my iPad at night when I couldn’t use my light SO I started this…so far it’s not bad, interesting for sure!
Some Girls Bite (Chicago and Vampire #1) by Chloe Neill
Publication Date: April 7, 2009
They killed me. They healed me. They changed me.
Sure, the life of a graduate student wasn’t exactly glamorous, but I was doing fine until Chicago’s vampires announced their existence to the world. When a rogue vampire attacked me, I was lucky he only got a sip. Another bloodsucker scared him off and decided the best way to save my life was to make me the walking undead.
Now I’ve traded sweating over my thesis for learning to fit in at a Hyde Park mansion full of vamps loyal to Ethan “Lord o’ the Manor” Sullivan. Of course, as a tall, green-eyed,
four-hundred-year-old vampire, he has centuries’ worth of charm, but unfortunately he expects my gratitude—and servitude. Right…
But someone’s out to get me. Is it the rogue vampire who bit me? A vamp from a rival House? An angry mob bearing torches?
My initiation into Chicago’s nightlife may be the first skirmish in a war—and there will be blood.
I needed an audio book to listen to while I drove my shift of 5 hours home from a short vacation in Florida. I think if I weren’t listening to it, it would be better. Still…I think now that I am home I might pick up the actual book and drop the audio so I can better like the characters because the voices always sound better in my head, you know?
