Don’t love your enemy. Declare war on him.
Seventeen-year-old Isis Blake hasn’t fallen in love in three years, nine weeks, and five days, and after what happened last time, she intends to keep it that way. Since then she’s lost eighty-five pounds, gotten four streaks of purple in her hair, and moved to Buttcrack-of-Nowhere, Ohio, to help her mom escape a bad relationship.
All the girls in her new school want one thing—Jack Hunter, the Ice Prince of East Summit High. Hot as an Armani ad, smart enough to get into Yale, and colder than the Arctic, Jack Hunter’s never gone out with anyone. Sure, people have seen him downtown with beautiful women, but he’s never given high school girls the time of day. Until Isis punches him in the face.
Jack’s met his match. Suddenly everything is a game.
The goal: Make the other beg for mercy.
The game board: East Summit High.
The reward: Something neither of them expected.
Previously published as Lovely Vicious, this fully revised and updated edition is full of romance, intrigue, and laugh-out-loud moments.
I am beyond glad Goodreads recommended this book to me. This book was so much fun to read and oh man that ending!!!
Isis is a girl moved to a new town which means a new high school. At a party one night she sees Jack work his horrible self on someone and she felt the need to stand up for them. Well Isis and Jack have just met each other’s match. Her way of staking her claim of a boy- hating-self-proclaimed-bad-girl; was to literally punch Jack in the face. BOOM. And there it begins.
At first I wasn’t sure if I was going to like Isis but she totally grew on me. Sure she has some issues but man I loved her sassy-sarcastic self! She used to be fat so she has stretch marks, her thighs jiggle and she calls herself ugly. But she has accepted who she is and has accepted the fact that she thinks she’s ugly. However I can understand how she would think she was ugly and never again would want to be touched by a man. After being bullied and tricked she has decided to completely change herself and who she use to be so she will never ever have to experience that again. Sadly that includes never falling in love…again.
Jack has issues of his own, I liked him. Sure, was he an absolute jerk? yes. did he need to be? no. Is he perfect? no. Did I have issues with him? sure! But overall, his jerk-y-ness was his defense wall. He is tired of being treated and fawned, and even pawed at all the time from women. So to keep them away he treats them badly by using their weaknesses and insecurities against them. Horrible right? But I found him and his interaction with Isis intriguing so I kept going.
One of my biggest problems I have with his story? His chosen “secret” life he has outside of high school. Do I understand? sure, doesn’t mean I have to agree with the author’s choice of lifestyle. Just throwing that out there.
But what made this book so worth the read was the action going on between both Jack and Isis and how they went about each other. I absolutely loved the funny side of Isis that wasn’t there at first but slowly built over time with the story till by the time I finished the book I was chuckling out loud and smiling! I love books that can make me do that! Plus that crazy cliffhanger and the fact that I am absolutely DYING to get my hands on book two!!! AAAHHH! I can’t wait!
So Overall I enjoyed it, I did have some issues with it, but overall I really enjoyed it.
